To make this peanut butter you only need a handful of ingredients. First, make sure that you have Spanish Peanuts. Spanish peanuts are usually found in the baking aisle at your local grocery store. They are smaller in appearance than the peanuts you may usually buy to snack on. They’re also less oily, so make the ideal key ingredient for homemade peanut butter.
These Spanish peanuts still have a little bit of the skin on top that you will rub off after they have been roasted. But the first step is to toss the raw Spanish peanuts in some peanut oil and some sea salt. When salting, go by your preference. If you want extra salt or no salt at all in your peanut butter , that’s fine too. Then after you have everything salted and oiled put the peanuts onto a baking sheet that’s lined with some parchment paper.
These are what your peanuts will look like after they’ve been roasted for about thirty minutes in the oven. They’re browned, they’re shiny from natural oil as well as the peanut oil, and they’re giving off a really nutty, fresh aroma.
Before you blend, all of the little skins need to come off. As soon as these cool, go through with this towel and rub off each piece of peanut to get all of that skin out.
The easiest way, if the skins don’t just pop off when touched, is to go ahead and take your peanut that has the skin on it, put it into a towel, and just rub it. The skin peels right off and you’ve got your peanut butter ready peanut! Then do that with all of them. You can put a few down on the towel, rub them down, and throw them in a bowl to make it go a bit faster.
And now let’s make some peanut butter!
Use a food processor. Put all of your cleaned peanuts into it. Then add a bit of honey. The honey will add that honey roasted flavor.
Then just blend it all up! This does take a few minutes. It will get all finely crushed then slowly turn into peanut butter. Note that when it turns into a ball, you are about to get that creamy butter you have worked so hard for!
Then, look what happens!
In my house, we love creamy peanut butter! So I went the extra step and really blended this down so that it got ground into the creamiest peanut butter. You can always stop earlier at the consistency you desire!
Look at that! It looks so good! And it smells even better! So, as you can see, the smell of the freshly roasted peanut butter is gathering a crowd! So I better get this peanut butter in a bowl. I went with creamy peanut butter because that’s what our family loves. And look at this, you have freshly roasted peanut butter. When I made this video, Tilly got the smell and came running for a bite! It is just that good!
