If I had to choose one cookie to call my favorite it would be these chocolate chocolate chip cookies! I am a chocoholic and these cookies check every box for sweet, salty, ooey-gooey, chewy, thick, and filled inside and out with rich chocolate. They are dangerously good because these are the cookies that you will be eating all day until every last soft crumb is gone. These cookies are chewy and tender with crisp outer edges and a middle that when warm, is almost molten with rich dark chocolate swimming around semi sweet chocolate chips and optional pecan pieces. I love the texture and nuttiness of pecans in any kind of chocolate chip cookie, as you know from my, Best chocolate chip cookies recipe!
The girls both start school tomorrow, so we spent the whole day packing in one last hoorah of Summer fun! Of course that meant baking together! These chocolate chocolate chip cookies are so decadent and dreamy that Bea and Tilly ended our fun afternoon by giving me a “spa treatment” while I started typing this post! Their cute mouths, cheeks, and dresses were covered in sweet chocolate. And that sweetness spread straight to their demeanor after that gooey and yummy snack. I need to make these much more often!

Dark Chocolate Cocoa Powder
Just like my Dark Chocolate Brownies, these chocolate chocolate chip cookies use dark chocolate cocoa powder. This will give you the richest chocolate flavor explosion. It’s my go-to cocoa powder for anything that calls for cocoa powder. If you’re a chocolate lover then you need to stock up on this in your pantry! Find this blend of dutch processed cocoa at your local store or here, Hershey’s Special Dark Cocoa, 8-Ounce Container (Pack of 2)
Cornstarch
Using cornstarch in your cookies is a sure way to make them more tender. In these chocolate chocolate chip cookies where you’re using cocoa powder in addition to all purpose flour, it softens up the cookie and gives you a melt-in-your-mouth treat. This is a reason that nuts like pecans work so well by adding a crunch and extra flavor that enhances all of that chocolate and tenderness.
Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
To make your dough you will want to use your stand mixer with your paddle attachment. You will cream the butter until pale. Then add sugar and cream until fluffy.
Add in eggs and vanilla and cream a couple more minutes.
In a separate bowl, whisk your dark chocolate cocoa powder, flour, salt, baking powder, and cornstarch.
Then turn your mixer to “stir” and add in the dry ingredients to your mixer slowly.
Add your semi sweet chips to balance out the dark chocolate, along with pecans if using. Note that you can also swap out the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips for White Chocolate Chips or Milk Chocolate Chips.
Chill Out
I tried these chocolate chocolate chip cookies a couple of ways, and for the best flavor and texture, they need up to 48 hours of chill time. Chilling your dough will give the flavors time to marry and the ingredients time to meld together for the optimal thick and chewy cookie texture.
Once the dough has had time to chill you will preheat your oven to 365 degrees and position the second rack of your oven.
Allow the chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough to rest for about 15 minutes then you can use a Medium Cookie Scoop to place 6 rounded cookie scoops on Silicone Baking Mat. Then press a few chocolate chips on top of the dough balls and pecan pieces too.
Then bake for approximately 11 minutes. The cookies will be slightly uncooked in the center but will finish cooking on the baking sheet once out of oven. They’ll set and this under baking will give you soft and chewy cookies. Leave on your cookie sheet until they have set and cooled a bit.
No matter how you stack ’em, you will get the best chocolate chocolate chip cookies EVER!
