It’s Halloween time, and I’m ready for all the ghosts, ghouls, and spooktacular cocktails like this Black Negroni! This Black Negroni is sleek, sexy, mysterious, and downright glamorous. The secret ingredient that transforms this orange Negroni into a Halloween cocktail is squid ink, or cuttlefish ink. This Halloween inspired Negroni is a spooky take on my Negroni. I love Halloween, especially now that the girls are so into it. The kids have enough Halloween treats on here like, Chocolate Cutout Cookies, Snickers Poke Cake, and Halloween Candy Cheesecake. But this is the ultimate adult treat you’ve been waiting for!

Squid Ink
Cuttlefish Ink, or squid ink, is the substance that squids shoot out to blind their predators. It is thick, black, and salty. It makes an awesome food coloring when added to cocktails like this Black Negroni!
Squid ink does have a rich flavor, so only a tiny bit is needed when you are using it primarily for the black color. However, it stains, so be careful! Furthermore, since squid ink does have a taste that is incredible in a dish like pasta, when using it in a drink like this black martini, it is important to balance the taste with sweet and sour elements.

Black Negroni aka Squid Ink Negroni aka Orange Negroni
This mysterious drink can be called many names! Since it has all the components of a Negroni, along with being black, I’ll stick to Black Negroni! To make this drink, you will need a good Cocktail Shaker. As a result of the squid ink being so thick, you really need to shake the life out of this drink to make sure all of the squid ink gets distributed!
To make this black negroni, you will be using freshly squeezed oranges to give acidity, along with a bit of grenadine to cut out the squid ink flavor.
The rest of this cocktail is made up of the usual components of a negroni: campari, gin, and sweet vermouth.
