The Joys Of Baking & Wonders of Sprinkles
The COVID-19 Pandemic is keeping many people at home right now. So some of us, like myself, have more time on our hands. Baking is a great stress relief and you get some yummy desserts to keep you happy as well!
I’m curious what random items you guys stocked up on in preparation for social distancing. I got about a year’s supply of sugar and flour to accommodate my baking addiction. And of course the wine store was my first stop on the COVID-19 shopping frenzy. I bought 20 bags of Supersized Skinny Pop. In my defense, that’s only double what I usually buy! But for some reason I also bought backup makeup and nail polish… to be around no one at all. Why?! Every single national TV show I was scheduled to be on in March and April have been placed on hold, so I am officially out of work for now. But at least I’ll have my makeup and nail polish to dress up for my kids while we bake, ha!
I definitely do feel compelled to start using all of my bulk baking supplies that are covering our basement bar counter and stools! I’m kicking off our Spring Break baking with the best sprinkle sugar cookies in the world! These cookies are vibrant, bright, and just make you feel better by looking at them. And then they will definitely give you the case of love at first bite.
Side note, if you have little kids then stock up on sprinkles while you are getting other pantry essentials. They are not only great for baking. I have my kids use sprinkles instead of glitter for art projects. Using colorful sprinkles is great way to keep your kids busy during the extended breaks we are having. The best sprinkle sugar cookies are so simple and colorful that your kid will love baking them with you.

What I love about sprinkle cookies is that you can make them for any occasion or holiday. Just switch up the color of the sprinkles and they will fit any occasion you have from Easter to Christmas to baby showers and wedding dessert bars, or all the events in between. And I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t love sugar cookies! Behind all the colorful sprinkles that coat these cookies, the core of these are truly the best bakery style sugar cookies ever!

The best sprinkle sugar cookies are very easy to make with common household pantry items.
To make the most tender, chewy cookies that have some thickness and that crisp outer edge, use cake flour. Cake flour has corn starch to give you all those cookie qualities that will make people swoon and beg you for this recipe. So please share this post! Remember, I am all dressed up with no place to go and just waiting for more blog views!
Also, the addition of a bit of sour cream revs up the moisture of these sugar cookies while also adding a touch of tang and flavor depth. These sprinkle sugar cookies have richness that can’t be beat.
You only need a quick chilling time to create that thick and chewy cookie. You will notice these cookies are rolled into golf ball sized dough balls. The dough ball size and chilling time are tricks that will ensure these cookies are thick and chewy on the inside with that crisp outer edge.
Let’s talk sprinkles. When I make sprinkle cookies I use jimmies, the type of sprinkles pictured. You can use any color combo imaginable for whatever holiday or event is coming up. These sprinkle cookies transform to Halloween Cookie, Christmas Cookies, Easter Cookies, you get the idea! Or I coat them with sparkly sugar crystals when I want to add an unbeatable outer crunch to each bite. Those sparkling sprinkles are ideal when you want to change up the look of the sprinkle cookies for events like Mother’s Day Brunch, weddings, or bridal showers. And of course you can roll these in plain old sugar for amazing sugar cookies.
